Teenage prostitution in Taiwan has been a deep-rooted fact since long time ago. On early days, there were bawdy-houses for males to get pleasure from young girls. And nowadays, more and more sorts of brothel spring up in Taiwan. For instance, many public houses, KTVs and motels are brothels in reality. However, what in the world causes the problems of teenage prostitution in Taiwan?
The fundamental cause comes from human beings? endless desires. First of all, males always think highly of physical enjoyments so that some speculators take young girls? vernal bodies to earn money from these animalistic males. Second, young girls? vanity for possessing beautiful clothes and purses of famous brands is another cause which can not be ignored. This is partly attributed to a tide of mammonism fostered by popular singers and exaggerative advertisements. Worst of all, mammonism urges teenagers to buy things that they can not afford and these young girls would choose to be prostitutes to earn quick money. Third, besides people?s desires, the social problems have to take partial responsibilities for teenage prostitution in Taiwan. For example, some girls were controlled by drugs through rogues and enforced to be prostitutes. These girls are guiltless victims. However, tragedies of this kind occur day after day.
In addition to the causes of teenage prostitution in Taiwan, teenage prostitutes bring many consequences as well. To begin with, from the statistics of the Health Bureau, AIDS patients increase of a rapid rate, and they are mostly prostitutes or people who have multiple sexual partners. Secondly, many obstetricians indicate that the proportion of new-born babies have decreased in recent years. But in fact, the percentage of pregnant females is still up averagely. What makes the decrease of new-born babies is teenage abortion. Teenage prostitutes have no ability to raise their children up are enforced to have an abortion so that they can keep working. Though abortion is inhuman, it seems the only choice for them.
We can see that there are still numerous problems to be solved by deeply understanding the causes and effects of teenage prostitution in Taiwan. What we can do is doing our best to protect teenagers from being prostitutes, helping them to lead new lives, and last but not least-we girls have to defend ourselves against the dealers with hidden intent who would compelled innocent girls to be prostitutes.
